Discover a program for Valrhona Chocolate that was “sweet” in so many ways. Thanks to creative lighting, video mapping, and projection, we created a New York experience that entertained, enlightened, and showed appreciation for the company, for chocolate, and for their best clients.

The #1 priority of the client was to celebrate their buyers by hosting an appreciation anniversary event. They wanted to give their guests a New York experience and have everyone feel like they were attending a true celebration.

Because the venue is a museum during the day, we only had two hours to load-in and prepare for the guests’ arrival. Additionally, we had to work around the museum’s hours of operation in order to program the lighting in advance of the opening that day.

At the venue, the guest entrance and load-in area shared the same door. Concerned about guests being greeted by loading trucks and street congestion, we had to seek out a solution and designate a separate, more welcoming entrance for attendees.

Strategic Planning & Full-Service Design and Production

To tackle the access issue, we directed guests to enter through the venue’s back entrance. This provided them with the experience of passing through a Speakeasy-style door and immediately immersed them into the heart of the event space.
To seamlessly transition between the dance party and the speaking presentation, we introduced a formal red curtain as the stage backdrop. This virtual curtain could be easily opened or closed, allowing us to adapt the stage setup to suit the different segments of the program.
We worked with the venue to create an immersive guest experience through lighting. This involved converting the floor into a dynamic geometric dance space, showcasing the history of New York through captivating projections, and even using video mapping technology to depict the Titanic sailing through the venue.
Given the occasion, chocolate was a must-have on the menu. We arranged tasting tables and integrated chocolate into the culinary offerings. To add a unique touch, we repurposed the bank windows as serving stations for chocolate desserts while ensuring that chocolate was abundantly available at every corner of the bar.
To celebrate the company's 100th anniversary, we designed and built a towering 10-foot-high chocolate cake for display at the event. While the interior of the cake was artificial, the exterior was meticulously crafted from real chocolate, adding an aromatic and delicious focal point to the celebration.
